James Christianson serves as president of Cap-Marin USA.
James is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley, a former researcher at U.C. San Francisco and
a former Associate in Research at Harvard University. Prior to founding Cap-Marin in
2004, James spent over 15 years with Sun Microsystems Japan and Sun Asia-Pacific.
After planting a small backyard vineyard, James immersed himself into the study of
winegrape-growing and winemaking. He has since studied in the viticulture and
enology programs at U.C. Davis Extension and Napa Valley College, and he has
worked in the vineyards, labs and cellars of Gundlach-Bundschu Winery,
Bartholomew Park Winery, Kunde Family Estate Winery, Cline Cellars & Jacuzzi
Family Winery in Sonoma, CA. James currently conducts laboratory analyses for
Kunde Family Estate, Cline and Jacuzzi Wineries. He also produces his own "garage
wine" - a blend of "estate-grown" (i.e., backyard) Petite Sirah and Zinfandel.
As a consultant, James provides sustainable solutions for businesses, vineyards and
wineries. He has assisted Kaiser Permanente, Disney, Autodesk, PG&E and
Comcast with their reuse and recycling efforts, diverting waste from landfills and
managing donations of thousands of pieces of surplus office furniture and
equipment, computer systems and office supplies to Northern California schools and
non-profits.
