U.S. WINE EXPORTS SURGE, HELPED BY WEAK DOLLAR
SAN FRANCISCO, USA -- U.S. wine exports set new records for volume and value in 2004, with
winery revenues reaching $794 million, a 28% jump over the previous year.  Japan alone
witnessed a 35% increase in U.S. wine imports, thanks to deregulation of liquor retailing
licenses.  In a recent survey, 85% of Japanese supermarkets now sell wine and alcohol, up
8.4% over a year ago, and California wine sales are particularly strong.  More....
